For its fifth edition, which is slated to run from August 1 to 4 of this year, the Seattle Art Fair has once again tapped Nato Thompson, the curator and director of Philadelphia Contemporary, as its artistic director. This is the second year Thompson has overseen the fair.
In a release, Thompson said, “After meeting such great artists and organizations, I am eager to build on the work to make something altogether different and wild for this fifth edition. [The] Seattle Art Fair gives artists a powerful spotlight, and I’m revving up to put together a program that is as captivating, inspiring and beautiful as the Pacific Northwest.”
For the fair’s 2018 edition, Thompson made waves by bringing together a lineup that included critically acclaimed pieces by a variety of artists, most notably Trevor Paglen (who is reportedly Thompson’s best friend) and Mark Pauline’s Survival Research Laboratories, which staged performance-based works that made use of robots.
