Lauren Wittels has been named a partner of Luhring Augustine gallery in New York. Wittels, who is currently Luhring Augustine’s senior director, first began working at the gallery in 1989. She left in 2003 to start Regency Arts Press Ltd., an organization that publishes artists’ books, and then returned to the gallery as director in 2011.
Roland Augustine, a co-owner of the gallery, said in a statement, “Lauren’s contribution to the gallery program and her dedication to the artists and clients of the gallery certainly warrants such well-deserved recognition, and we congratulate her and look forward to many more fruitful years of collaboration.”
In addition to her work for Luhring Augustine, Wittels sits on the boards of the Art Dealers Association of America and Visual AIDS. She is also on the faculty of the Bronx Museum of the Arts’s Artists in the Marketplace program.
