Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, which maintains spaces in Paris, London, and Salzburg, Austria, has hired Kyu Jin Hwang as its associate director for Asia. According to a gallery representative, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac has created the position as part of its plans for development in the Asian market.
As associate director, Hwang will work with collectors and institutions throughout Asia, with a particular focus on Korea. She will be based in London.
Most recently, Hwang managed a private collection in Europe, and, in that role, she specialized in acquisitions of modern and contemporary art. She has previously worked at Gallery Hyundai in Seoul, where she was involved in developing the exhibition and artist programs.
She said in a statement, “I am absolutely delighted to join Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, whose team I had the pleasure of working with in my previous roles, having been drawn to the outstanding artists represented by the gallery.”
